Steven Bergwijn reiterated his desire to win the Europa League with PSV. “I have told you before”, he said at the press conference in the Philips Stadion, ahead of Thursday’s Europa League Group D clash with LASK Linz. “We are a good team and aim to take another step closer to the knockout phase tomorrow evening.”
Bergwijn referred to the Group D standing. PSV have two victories under their belt and hope to make it three wins out of three. So they need a victory over LASK Linz, who have found their rhythm lately and are known for their fast counter-attacking football. “We have been informed that LASK Linz have some fast attackers”, said Bergwijn.
First defeat of the domestic season
The PSV forward was dealt a huge blow last Sunday when PSV suffered their first Eredivisie defeat of the season. Bergwijn does not think the disappointing defeat will affect Thursday’s performance. “It will be an entirely different game. We’ve talked things over and realise that losing is part of the game. We look to return to winning ways on Thursday.”
