Daniel Schwaab accompanied head coach Mark van Bommel at the pre-match conference at the Linzer Stadion on Wednesday evening. The German defender told the media he was confident PSV could get a result against LASK Linz.
Viergever returns after suspension
Nick Viergever missed PSV’s last two league games due to suspension but is eligible to play against the Austrian side on Thursday evening. Daniel Schwaab, who regularly partnered Viergever in the heart of defence last season, is happy with the Dutchman’s return. “It’s important to have a left-footed defender in the centre of defence. Viergever has gained a lot of experience and I think this is exactly what this team needs right now.”
Turn the season around against LASK?
Daniel Schwaab feels PSV are well-prepared for Thursday’s game. “We saw in the reverse encounter in Eindhoven that LASK always give their all. Backed by the home crowd, they will burst out of the blocks. But, as I said, we are well prepared and are confident we can get a result here.” Schwaab was asked if LASK were favourites to win the game on match day four. “I don’t think so. We are on top of Group D and we have shown we can play a prominent part. This match could very well turn our season around. We want to play European football after the winter break and we can take a major step in reaching our goal.”
LASK Linz v PSV kicks off on Thursday evening at 18.55.
