Schwaab returns to face Heracles

After a 1-1 draw at Internazionale on Tuesday, PSV return to domestic action on Saturday with a trip to Almelo to face Heracles. Mark van Bommel held his usual Friday-pre-match conference at De Herdgang training facilities. PSV’s head coach first provided an injury update. “The squad emerged from this week unscathed, so we can select from a fully-fit squad. Daniel Schwaab, who missed the last two games due to personal reasons, spent time with his family in Germany and has returned to full training. Ryan Thomas is the only long-term absentee.”

Van Bommel briefly looked back at the 1-1 draw with Internazionale, reflecting in particular on the progress Michal Sadílek has made. The Czech midfielder was handed his UCL debut and featured for almost 30 minutes against the Italian side. “I have known Michal for a long time, actually since he joined PSV. I made him PSV U19 captain last season and he was outstanding all season and instilled a winning mentality in his team.  PSV U19 were crowned champions. Sadilek can read the game and understands that winning games is what matters most. He has a good attitude and work ethic and deserves more game time. He has stepped up from the PSV youth ranks to play in the UEFA Champions League and is a real example of how to develop players.”

Heracles Almelo
PSV take on Heracles, currently sitting fifth in the Eredivisie table, on Saturday night. Van Bommel assured the media that there’s no risk of PSV underestimating Heracles Almelo. “They have suffered one defeat at home this season so far, against Feyenoord, and have shown their quality and pace at home. They have exceeded all expectations so far. Playing their home matches on artificial turf will surely have an influence on results.”
