PSV head coach Roger Schmidt spoke to PSV TV at the airport in Greece on Friday morning to preview Sunday’s Eredivisie game against Vitesse. The visitors from Arnhem have not been at their best lately and Schmidt expects his team to bag all three points against the team that suffers a dip in form. “We want to respond after our defeat in Greece last night.”
Disappointment
Before departure at the airport, Schmidt was asked how he felt ahead of Sunday’s game. “Right now we are obviously still disappointed”, said Schmidt, referring to the 4-2 defeat against Olympiacos FC in Piraeus. “I think a draw would have been a fair result. But we will now turn our attention to the Vitesse game. The players must recover from their hard work on Thursday and the substitutes and fringe players will train in Eindhoven. We will come together and draw up a game plan for Sunday’s game.”
Defeat
PSV slipped to defeat in this season’s reverse fixture in Arnhem against Vitesse, who had an excellent first half of the season. They have suffered a dip in form recently but Schmidt expects another tough game. “We face a strong team who may not be at their best but will go out looking to make amends. We must be well-prepared and gain all three points.”
Boscagli
Olivier Boscagli is doubtful for Sunday. The French centre-back sustained a head injury on the stroke of half time and was forced to come off the pitch. “It’s hard to tell whether he will be match-fit. We will do our very best to have him in the startling line-up but at the moment I don’t think he will make it. It depends on Olivier himself. He must feel comfortable”, concluded Schmidt.
