Schmidt: “We kept believing in ourselves”

PSV head coach Roger Schmidt was in a positive mood after watching his side register a 3-1 win over PEC Zwolle. He admitted that there is plenty of room for improvement but looks to take the positives into the next game, against AS Monaco on Thursday.

The right moment
Schmidt could never lean back as PSV were still a goal down after 84 minutes, but was happy with his team’s comeback. “With only eight minutes remaining, it was difficult to remain cool, calm and collected”, he admitted after the game. “We kept believing in ourselves, piled pressure on the opposition’s defence and forced them into mistakes. But we should really not make it so hard on ourselves. When you are so much better, you must score at the right moment.”

Europa League
Schmidt is level-headed ahead of Thursday’s Europa League game at AS Monaco. “I always look at the bright things in life! We won today and that’s all that matters. We must take the positive feelings into the next few massive games. We must improve when we face AS Monaco, but I’m sure it will be a different game. AS Monaco are a good team with a lot of potential. We must make steps forward on each match day in the Europa League in order to reach the next round.”
