Ritsu Doan: “We want to win all competitions”

Ritsu Doan put in a man-of-the-match performance against Fortuna Sittard in the Philips Stadion on Wednesday night. The Japanese winger struck twice to help his team secure a place in the next round of the KNVB Beker. “I am satisfied I am still making progress.”

Ambition
“We take our KNVB Beker campaign. We want to win all competitions”, said the Japanese star, speaking after the game. “We knew it would not be a walk over. Fortuna Sittard had energy and motivation to fight back. But we have reached the next round and I am satisfied with the Cu win.”

Goals
Ritsu Doan struck twice to make the difference. He doubled PSV’s lead with a stunning goal of great beauty. But the Japanese modestly praised his team mates for a fine performance. “Of course I am happy when I score a goal, but I owe my team-mates a lot. Mario Götze teed up with me at the opening goal. I had some space before I unleashed a shot to double the lead. Fortunately I could steer my effort into the top corner of the net.”

A good run of form
Doan is having a good run of form and has frequently made his mark with goals and assists lately. He is happy to show progress. “Things are increasingly getting better. I always want to play but there is fierce competition for a first-team place. I will keep on fighting and fully focus on PSV’s matches.”
