Ramalho: “We will always play to win our games”

PSV had been searching for an equaliser against PEC Zwolle for a long time until André Ramalho came to the rescue in the 84th minute, heading home from a corner. PSV’s Brazilian centre back and his team mates kept faith for the full 90 minutes.

Room for improvement
PSV scored three late goals in five minutes but PEC Zwolle had the ball in the net after just three minutes’ play. Ramalho thought PSV lacked concentration when they conceded the goal. “We didn’t anticipate well in the opening minutes and I realise there is room for improvement for me as a defender. I will never feel at ease when we concede a goal. I am pretty sure it would have been a completely different game if PEC Zwolle had not scored an early goal.”

“We play to win our games"
Ramalho eventually broke the deadlock and it was once again an open game. “I obviously would have liked not to score that late in the game, but at the end of the day there is only one thing that counts: a victory.” PSV frequently score goals in the final ten minutes and the defender thinks this sums up PSV’s character and fighting spirit. “We never give up, show mental toughness and try to create chances. We must try to delay scoring until the closing stages but we will always play to win our games.”
