PSV play host to Vitesse in their last match before the winter break. Vitesse had an encouraging start to the season but after winning only one game in their last seven outings Henk Fraser’s team are currently sitting seventh in the table. They last earned three points a month ago with a 2-0 victory over ADO Den Haag.
Eight victories in a row
PSV suffered a heavy 6-2 defeat against Vitesse four seasons ago but have recorded eight victories in a row since then and kept a clean sheet in the Philips Stadion.
LoLo
Philip Cocu guided PSV to a 4-2 win in Arnhem in this season’s reverse fixture. Jürgen Locadia scores an unfortunate own goal but made amends with two goals. Hirving Lozano also struck twice, while Mason Mount pulled one back for Vitesse in the closing stages.
Luuk de Jong milestone
Luuk de Jong scored a goal against ADO Den Haag last weekend in his 200th Eredivisie appearance. If he gets his name on the score sheet against Vitesse, he will be hailed for a great achievement: his 100 milestone goal in the Dutch top flight. PSV’s striker found the back of the net in his last three league games and in the KNVB Cup tie against VVV-Venlo.
