PSV U23 have recorded a 4-3 victory against Sparta Prague in the opening game of the Premier League International Cup.
Dennis Haar’s side got off to a bright start at Everton’s training ground in Liverpool and took the lead on six minutes, thanks to a Donyell Malen goal. It was a short-lived lead as Cmelik netted the equaliser for Sparta Prague U23 in the fifteenth minute. PSV had a two-goal advantage at half-time thanks to strikes from Albert Gudmundsson (’32) and Sam Lammers (’41).
Sparta Prague stage comeback
PSV seemed to have wrapped up the three points on the hour mark when Donyell Malen scored his second goal of the night. But the Czechs staged a brave comeback, with Kost (’65) and Drchal (’75) finding the back of the net. Sparta swarmed forward in pursuit of an equaliser in the closing stages but PSV U23 held on for a 4-3 victory. Next up for Dennis Haar’s side is Newcastle on 12 December.
