After claiming a victory against FC Eindhoven in the opening game of the new season, PSV U21 suffered an emphatic 4-1 defeat at the hands of TOP Oss on Friday night in round 2 of the league.
PSV U21 were two goals down in the Frans Heesen in no time, conceding two gals in quick succession. Nieveld headed home the opening goal on 11 minutes and one minute later Dogan doubled the lead for the hosts, tapping home from close range. At the other end, Armando Obispo came close but saw his free kick palmed away by the goalkeeper. PSV U21 reduced the deficit on 29 minutes from the penalty spot. Joël Piroe was brought down in the box and Ramon Lundqvist sent the keeper the wrong way. HT: 2-1.
Dogan wrapped up the three points
TOP Oss restored a two-goal advantage eight minutes into the second half. They won a penalty and Dogan kept his cool, duly converting the spot kick: 3-1. The game was virtually over as a contest, although Piroe had a chance to pull a goal back. The striker beat the offside trap but fired just wide of the post from a tight angle. TOP midfielder Smeets wrapped up the three points with fifteen minutes remaining: 4-1. Amar Catic left the bench in the closing stages to make his PSV U21 debut.
