PSV U21 got their campaign off to a bright start but are gradually sliding down the table, following a second straight defeat. They were beaten 1-0 by FC Volendam last Friday and slipped to a 4-2 defeat at home to FC Oss on Monday evening. Defender Jordy de Wijs scored an unfortunate own goal.
De Wijs headed home the opening goal
Kamaci had a goal disallowed on two minutes, while Jozefzoon spurned a goal scoring opportunity four minutes later. It set the tone for a topsy-turvy game. Both teams played attacking football and quickly turned defence into attack. De Wijs headed home PSV U21’s opening goal but Boere scored the equaliser from the penalty spot after Romario had committed a foul in the box. HT: 1-1.
PSV U21could not stage a fight back
The visitors took the lead when Mathieu slotted home three minutes into the second half, leaving Jurjus with no chance: 1-2. Kamaci could and should have made it 1-3, firing wide from close range, with the goal at his mercy. FC Oss had a two-goal advantage with fifteen minutes remaining, after De Wijs diverted Mathieu’s low cross past Jurjus for an unfortunate own goal: 2-3. Poulsen handed PSV U21 a lifeline five minutes later but Falkenstein had the last word for the visitors. FT: 2-4.
