PSV U21 suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of FC Oss on Friday night. Pascal Jansen’s team had some chances to open the scoring in the first period but had little to offer after the break. PSV’s had also slipped to defeat against FC Oss in this season’s reverse fixture.
Lammers and Gudmundsson had first-half chances
FC Oss and PSV U21 were slow to get going and could not create any meaningful chances in the opening exchanges. Lammers had the first chance of the game on 25 minutes, but the FC Oss goalkeeper made a fine safe to deny him and the custodian pushed Gudmundsson’s effort away for a corner minutes later. Lammers and Gudmundsson each had another chance to make the breakthrough in the first period but failed to take them. Mathieu created most goal threat for the hosts. After first having sent an effort across the face of goal, he gave his team the lead in the 44th minute. Mathieu controlled a deflected pass well and rounded Jurjus before tapping home from close range. HT: 1-0.
Little to offer
PSV U21 had little to offer after the break and Jurjus was the busier of the two goalkeepers. He kept his side in the game with two vital saves and FC Oss’ top scorer Boere blasted the ball well over the bar when one-on-one with Jurjus. Mathieu had the best goal scoring opportunity but Jurjus quickly left his line to deny him. Boere eventually doubled the hosts’ lead with seven minutes remaining, pouncing on a rebound. FT: 2-0.
