PSV U21 slump to a 2-1 defeat against N.E.C

PSV U21 slumped to a 2-1 defeat against N.E.C. in the Jan Louwers Stadion on Monday night.

N.E.C. took a 2-0 lead
PSV U21 started the game brightly and the first chances of the match fell to Maurio. The Brazilian just could not connect with a cross and N.E.C. keeper Branderhorst made a save to keep out the Brazilian midfielder’s free kick. Although Dennis Haar’s team were the better team, the visitors took the lead on 22 minutes. They were awarded a soft penalty that Druijf duly converted: 0-1. It was the turning point of the game and Okita doubled the lead for N.E.C. in the 43rd minute: 0-2.

Well-organised
PSV U21 looked to reduce the deficit after the break and came close on the hour mark. Joël Piroe had a free header from six yards out  but sent his effort straight at Branderhorst. Dennis Haar’s men worked hard but could not create chances against a well-organised N.E.C. defence. PSV U21 pulled a goal back three minutes from time when Suring scored an unfortunate own goal: 1-2.
