Five different goal scorers, four youngsters who put on a great display on their debut and the 500th goal as PSV thumped Almere City 5-1.
500th goal in history
Almere City must have been happy not to have been reduced to ten men in the early opening exchanges when a defender made a vicious challenge on seventeen-year-old Koen Jansen. PSV U21 produced some slick football as they cut through the Almere City defence with some neat, quick passing. They converted their dominance in the 19th minute when Simon Colyn headed home PSV U21’s 500th goal in history: 1-0. It was a short-lived lead as Almere City’s German man up front Jonas Arweiler netted an equaliser just three minutes later: 1-1. PSV continued to build up some flowing moves and when Koen Jansen played Nigel Thomas clean through in the 35th minute, he only had the keeper to beat: 2-1. Fedde Leysen made it three in the 42nd minute, slotting home from a corner. HT: 3-1.

The second half continued in more or less the same vein as the first period, with PSV U21 pressing Almere City high up the field. Johan Bakayoko wiggled his way past a number of defenders before producing a compound finish in the 72nd minute: 4-1. PSV U21 coach Ruud van Nistelrooy had handed a debut to sixteen-old Isaac Babadi and August Priske Flyger in the 62nd minute. The 17-year-old Danish striker scored the last goal of the match with nine minutes remaining to cap his successful debut. The final score was 5-1, which was the biggest victory of the season.
