PSV U21 slip to 2-1 defeat at FC Utrecht

Three days after seeing off their Ajax counterparts, PSV U21 took on Utrecht U21 on Monday night. Ruud van Nistelrooy’s team slipped to a 2-1 defeat at Sportcomplex Zoudenbalch.

Penalty and injury
Nick Venema put the hosts ahead in the 14th minute but Cheick Touré leveled from the penalty spot in the 37th minute. A minute before, Nigel Thomas limped off the pitch after he had sustained an injury. An FC Utrecht forward missed a great scoring opportunity with the goal at his mercy.

Simon Colyn
Davy van den Berg put FC Utrecht U21 ahead again seven minutes after the restart. The second half was an end-to-end affair. FC Utrecht were the better team and created most chances. Simon Colyn, a 19-year-old striker from Canada, made his PSV U21 debut with four minutes remaining.
