PSV U21 control first half proceedings
PSV U21 had attacking ideas and produced plenty of goal threat in the early opening stages. Jeremy Antonisse brought out a save from the FC Dordrecht goalkeeper and Kristófer Kristinsson sent an effort over the bar. Shurandy Sambo and Ismael Saibari also had their moments, with the latter hitting the bar. PSV U21 goalkeeper Kyan van Dorp, who replaced Vincent Müller between the sticks, was hardly called into action. Johan Bakayoko, who was handed a first start, looked to score a goal on his debut, but wildly blazed the ball over the bar. PSV U21 got what they deserved in the 44th minute. Antonisse swept in a low cross that took a deflection off FC Dordrecht defender Julius Bliek into his own goal: HT: 0-1.
Two goals in two minutes
The hosts looked to bounce back after the break and were back on level terms three minutes into the second half, when Gianni dos Santos slotted home, with the first shot on target. Antonisse fired a free kick straight at the goalkeeper and skewed a shot wide, with Mathias Kjølø providing the assist. PSV U21 then struck twice in two crazy minutes. Kjølø created some space on the edge of the penalty area in the 68th minute and the young Norwegian unleashed a powerful shot into the top of the roof: 1-2. One minute later, substitute Nigel Thomas stepped up to take a free kick from twenty yards out and gave his team a two-goal advantage with a thunderbolt: 1-3. The home side desperately searched forward and Kevin Jansen pulled a goal back with a well-placed header: 2-3. PSV U21 bravely held on in the hectic closing stages for a win.
