PSV U21 made it two wins in a row at PSV Campus De Herdgang on Friday night. After thrashing their FC Utrecht counterparts on Monday, Peter Uneken’s side earned a comfortable 3-0 win over AZ U21.
Two goals in two minutes
Neither team had a shot on target in the opening thirty minutes. Fodé Fofana had the best chance to open the scoring but he could not connect well enough from Johan Bakayoko’s cross to test AZ U21 goalkeeper Hobie Verhulst. The first half looked to be heading for a 0-0 scoreline, but PSV U21 suddenly scored two goals in as many minutes. Bakayoko delivered a cross on 43 minutes and after a poor clearance the ball fell to Fodé Fofana, who poked home, taking his goal scoring tally for the season to eight. On the stroke of half time, PSV U21 won a penalty and Mathias Kjølø stepped up to coolly convert. HT: 2-0.
PSV U21 controlled second-half proceedings and created a number of chances to further extend their lead. But at the other end, Vincent Müller kept his side in the game with some fine saves. The German goalkeeper took a nasty knock when he pushed away the ball for a corner in the 73rd minute and needed treatment but could carry on. Kristóffer Kristinsson made it three for PSV U21 in the 80th minute with a lovely volley. FT: 3-0.
