PSV U21 have inflicted a surprise defeat on VVV-Venlo. Pascal Jansen’s team beat the Jupiler League leaders 2-1 at De Herdgang training facilities on Monday evening.
A goal down on 15 minutes
PSV U21, who included Pasveer, Bergwijn, Zinchenko and Koch, in their starting XI, were a goal down against the Jupiler League leaders on 15 minutes. Seuntjens, at the end of a well-worked move, opened the scoring for the visitors: 0-1. It was the wake-up call that PSV U21 needed. They began to dominate first-half proceedings and Lammers and Bergwijn had chances to put their team back on level terms. The fully deserved equaliser was scored by Promes on the half-hour mark. The VVV-defender failed to control Paal’s cross and put the ball into the net for an unfortunate own goal: 1-1.

Lammers notched his twelfth strike of the season
PSV U21’s forwards combined well and VVV were deep in their own half. Pascal Jansen’s team were rewarded for their attacking play on the stroke of half-time, when Lammers tapped home from close range: 2-1. VVV sent men forward after the break in search of an equaliser but could not create any meaningful chances, until Seuntjens had a great goal scoring opportunity. PSV U21 were hanging in the ropes in the hectic closing stages but bravely held on for a 2-0 victory.
