PSV U19 crowned champions

PSV U19 have been crowned champions on Saturday afternoon, following an emphatic 6-1 win over their N.E.C./FC Oss counterparts. Nearest rivals Ajax dropped two points in a 2-2 draw with Feyenoord, which means that coach Mark van Bommel has guided his team to their first league title since 1991.

3-1 lead at half-time
PSV U19 went out to claim a win over N.E.C./FC Oss U19, waiting for Ajax to drop points. It was an unlikely scenario at half-time, though. Van Bommel’s side had taken a 3-0 lead at half-time, thanks to fine goals from Joël Piroe, Zakaria Aboukhlal and Maxime Soulas, but Ajax were 2-0 on top in Rotterdam.

Jubilant scenes
Justin Lonwijk, Aboukhlal and Amar Catic added three goals for PSV U19 in the second half. When PSV U21 had bagged the three points, jubilant scenes erupted at De Herdgang training facilities, when the players were told that Feyenoord had scored a late equaliser. PSV operate a highly-successful youth academy with the U17 and U19 teams crowned as champions in their league this season.
