PSV sign Peruvian Luiz Beto da Silva

PSV have signed 19-year-old Peruvian forward Luiz Humberto Da Silva Silva on a free transfer from Sporting Cristal, one of the big clubs in Peru. Da Silva, as he is usually called, has signed a two-and-half year contract that will keep him at the Philips Stadion until the summer of 2018. He will join the PSV U21 squad.

Brazilian roots
Luiz Beto da Silva, born in Lima on 28 December 1996, is a Peruvian forward with Brazilian roots. He started his career as a youth player with the Brazilian club Grêmio Porto Alegre, before he joined Sporting Cristal in his native country in 2013. He has made 21 appearances for Sporting Cristal and has represented his country at various age levels.

Third Peruvian in the service of PSV
Luiz Beto da Silva told PSV TV that he hopes to follow in the footsteps of his successful compatriot Jefferson Farfán. "He is a role model to me. He is a great player and has become a household name in Eindhoven. I’m delighted to sign for a big club like PSV”, said the Peruvian who will wear the name ´Da Silva´ on the back of his shirt. After Reimond Manco and Jefferson Farfán, Luiz Beto da Silva will be the third Peruvian player in the service of PSV. He will travel to Spain on Monday with PSV´s under-21s for a training camp to prepare for the second part of the 2015/16 campaign.
