The PSV players were satisfied after a comfortable display and 4-1 victory against Fortuna Sittard but admitted there were enough areas to be improved.
A deserved win
PSV head coach was a happy man after guiding his team to an emphatic win. “I am satisfied with the display. We knew it was going to be a tough game and when Jordan Teze sustained an injury things did not get any easier. Yet we’ve created plenty of chances and pulled off a deserved win. I am annoyed by the way we conceded a goal but there are enough positives to take into the next game.”
Substitutes
PSV have been hit with another injury blow when Jordan Teze limped off the pitch, but Schmidt was relieved to see his team’s reaction. “The substitutions paid off. Doan put in a fine display and Bruma came off the bench to bag a brace”, said Schmidt, meeting the press after the game. “Mauro JR, who lacked match rhythm, did well and played the full 90 minutes, We now have two weeks to recover and start preparing for the next few games.”
“We cruised to a win”
“We cruised to a comfortable win”, said Marco van Ginkel. The captain came on after the break and went close to scoring a goal with his first touch. “We were in control and found space behind their backline. It was game, set and match when we doubled our lead. We are happy to have scored four goals, but actually we should have netted a few more.”
Not pleased at all
André Ramalho was not pleased at all with the way PSV conceded a goal that came out of the blue. “I can hardly be blamed and I have to accept it. But I am always critical of my own game”, admitted Ramalho, who provided the great assist for PSV’s second goal. “It is small comfort, but we will now go into the international break with our heads held high”, said the centre-back.
