Captain Marco van Ginkel misses Saturday’s game at home to sc Heerenveen through a knee problem. Head coach Phillip Cocu told the media at his weekly press briefing that he suspects Van Ginkel’s injury is worse than at first believed.
Making progress in recovery from injury
Phillip Cocu faced the media at De Herdgang training ground on Friday afternoon, ahead of Saturday’s clash with sc Heerenveen. “Van Ginkel is making progress in his recovery from injury but has not joined the squad for full training yet and the game against sc Heerenveen comes too early for him.” Bart Ramselaar will take his place as a holding midfielder. “He is fulfilling that role pretty well and gets along well with Jorrit Hendrix every week.”
Make amends for defeat
Cocu hopes PSV can banish the memory of losing to sc Heerenveen in this season’s reverse encounter. “This is a chance for us to make amends for the 2-0 defeat in Heerenveen. We were two goals down after barely eight minutes. It was one of the worst games of the season. We have fought out some tough games with sc Heerenveen the past few years. They have more than enough quality in the squad and their side includes a number of creative talents. We will have to give our all to get a result and Saturday’s match will be no exception.”
