Van Ginkel and De Jong
Cocu’s side started brightly and Van Ginkel as well as De Jong had chances to open the scoring. Van Ginkel unleashed a ferocious shot from the edge of the box which former PSV goalkeeper Cássio turned away for a corner. De Jong saw his header glance wide of the far post. The hosts took the lead on 24 minutes, when Rodriguinho, left completely unmarked, got his name of the score sheet with a simple tap-in at the far post. Lozano tried his luck from long range on the stroke of half time but had his effort comfortably gathered by Cássio. HT: 1-0
Lammers nets equaliser, Malen makes PSV debut
PSV went in search of an equaliser after the break. They came very close on the hour mark when Lozano saw his vicious shot saved. De Jong had a goal scoring opportunity but sent his header straight at the goalkeeper. Jeroen Zoet was hardly called into action as PSV enjoyed the bulk of possession. With fifteen minutes remaining, Bergwijn turned provider for Pereiro who blasted the ball over the bar. Substitute Mauro was played clean through in the closing stages, but one-on-one with the goalkeeper he saw his effort cleared off the line by a Brazilian defender. PSV got what they deserved in the first minute of added time. The ball fell to Sam Lammers in a packed penalty box and the young striker needed no second invitation, slotting home the deserved equaliser. Donyell Malen made his PSV debut on 75 minutes when he came on as a substitute.
After the final whistle there was a penalty shoot-out. The winners get a bonus point in the Florida Cup. Sam Lammers missed his spot kick as Corinthians won the penalty series 5-4. FC Corinthians have two points, PSV have one.
