PSV play host to RC Lens on Matchday four of the UEFA Champions League Group B campaign. PSV are still searching for their first group stage victory, after the reverse fixture in France ended in a 1-1 draw. They need a win on Wednesday to keep their hopes of booking a place in the knockout stages of the tournament alive, said head coach Peter Bosz, meeting the media on Tuesday afternoon ahead of the crucial game.
“We have to win this one, there is no doubt about what we have to do. We showed in the away fixture that we can play at this level, but we need to be focused for the full 90 minutes tomorrow and be at our absolute best to win this match. We will have to be more effective here and create even more chances than we did in the first encounter”, said Bosz. “The RC Lens fans created an awe-inspiring atmosphere in their home game, but tomorrow our supporters will sing and cheer to create an even more electrifying atmosphere. “
The head coach said that he and the coaching staff have learnt lessons from the previous encounter. “We have analysed the match and we think we know how to hurt them. How? I don’t think it makes much sense to reveal our game plan!”
Few surprises
Bosz does not expect any surprises tomorrow. “I know Franck Haise from my spell with Olympique Lyonnais and am familiar with his style of play. He will surely make some tactical changes, but I expect them to stick to their usual playing style.”
Peter Bosz feels confident his team will progress to the knockout stages. “We have two points from three games but we could have earned a win against Sevilla FC as well as against RC Lens. We did not, but we played with drive and resilience and we can do the same tomorrow night”, concluded Bosz.
