PSV have signed Patrick van Aanholt on loan from Galatasaray SK in a deadline-day deal to bolster their defence. He returns to familiar territory as he was a PSV player from 2007 to 2009. Patrick is delighted to be back in Eindhoven. After having spent a long time abroad Van Aanholt returns to his old club.
“I have fond memories of my first spell at PSV. It’s a long time ago, at the old training ground. It’s great to be back”, says Van Aanholt, who had been hoping for a return to his native country for some time yet. “I spoke with General Manager Marcel Brands and discussed a return with my family. Things have gone quickly. This is just fine and I can’t wait to get started.”
Experience
After spells in England and Turkey, this was the appropriate moment to come back to Eindhoven. Van Aanholt brings a wealth of international experience. “I want to help the team, also by my presence in the dressing room. We have a fine squad and are active on three fronts, the Europa League, the TOTO KNVB Cup and the Dutch Eredivisie of course. We look to win as many prizes as possible.”
Friend of Xavi’s
Van Aanholt has never lost sight of PSV completely. “I’ve been following PSV the past few years.” He is a good friend of PSV player Xavi Simons. “I know him well and we regularly catch up on news. I’ve watched his performances this season and his fine displays have helped make my decision to return to PSV.”
‘Can’t think of a better start’
Patrick van Aanholt will need some time to adapt to the new environment, the style of play and the manager. “We face Feyenoord on Sunday and I couldn’t have asked for a better start. I will turn my attention to Sunday’s big game and focus 100% on getting a result. I’m really looking forward to it!”
