PSV have no new injury worries ahead of the Eredivisie game at home to Sparta Rotterdam, said head coach Roger Schmidt one day after coasting his side to a 4-1 win at Sturm Graz. “The players have come through the international fixture without picking up any injury problems, but Sunday’s match comes too early for Noni Madueke and Davy Pröpper”.
“They have not recovered to full fitness and will not be called up to the match squad”, said Schmidt before providing an injury update. “Right now, we have no injury issues. The lads feel tired after Thursday’s game but we expect all players will be ready for the clash against Sparta Rotterdam.”
‘Give their all’
PSV recorded two wins over Sparta Rotterdam last season, but they were made to work hard to grab the three points. “I don’t think there have been major changes at Sparta. We know they will give their all, just like they did last season. We meet them again with the fixtures coming thick and fast. We obviously want to take all three points home before the international break.”
The Rotterdam outfit have won only one game so far this season. Schmidt: “They got off their campaign to a poor start but will look to return to winning ways on Sunday. We need to focus on the next game and I want the players to show the same attitude and fighting spirit as in Austria.”
