Luuk de Jong has been named player of the month for April. He is the fifth PSV player who wins this prestigious award this season. PSV’s captain scored six goals in four matches last month.
The player of the month award is presented by Eredivisie BV and ESPN to the player who gets the most votes from football fans and has the best stats. Luuk de Jong scored six goals and had one assist during the 290 minutes he played against N.E.C. Nijmegen, FC Volendam, Excelsior Rotterdam and Ajax. PSV earned all twelve points from these four games.
Productive spell
“It’s great to have your achievements awarded”, said the striker, who is known for scoring headed goals, after receiving the prize. “I’ve had a productive spell and I hope for more of the same in the closing stages of the current season”.
Five times out of eight
The award has been presented for the eighth time this season. Luuk de Jong follows in the footsteps of Cody Gakpo and Xavi Simons who both won the award twice. The remaining three awards were presented to Nick Olij (Sparta Rotterdam), Taylor Booth (FC Utrecht) and Steven Berghuis (Ajax).
