News | Johan Bakayoko named Talent of the Month for October

Johan Bakayoko has been named Eredivisie Talent of the Month of October. Based on statistics and votes from football fans, the 20-year-old winger received this award as best performing under 21 players. This is the second time Bakayoko won the Talent of the Month award, after winning the prestigious prize in March 2023.

PSV won their three Eredivisie games in October, with the Belgian winger playing a key role. He scored a peach of a goal in the 4-0 win at Sparta Rotterdam and also found the back of the net in the 3-1 victory against Fortuna Sittard.  He also had two assists: one for Guus Til against Fortuna Sittard and one for Hirving Lozano against Ajax. And he opened the scoring for PSV at RC Lens in a UEFA Champions League Group game.

Award
Johan Bakayoko, who has earned seven caps for Belgium, is delighted with his second Eredivisie award. “This is an important phase of my career. PSV helped me become a better player. This award shows I have made progress, which motivates me even more to go for it every day.” Several PSV players won awards last season. Besides Johan Bakayoko, Xavi Simons won the Johan Cruyff Talent of the Month award and was named Eredivisie Player of the Month twice, just like Cody Gakpo and Luuk de Jong (1).
