Donyell Malen scored a hat-trick in PSV U21’s 5-1 win over FC Oss at De Herdgang on Easter Monday, as Dennis Haar’s team coasted to their 17th league win of the season. They are fourth in the table with 57 points from 33 games.
Malen opens scoring, Koopmans saves penalty
It was the hosts who had the first attempts of the game as Sam Lammers and Donyell Malen produced goal threat but the deadlock was broken on 16 minutes, with Donyell Malen at the end of a well-worked move, after good work from Cody Gakpo and Sam Lammers: 1-0. PSV U21 were looking in confident mood, but the visitors were still a threat. Luuk Koopmans pushed a long-range effort away for a corner and dived at full length to save Fatih Kamaci’s penalty. But he did not stand a chance when Van der Venne unleashed a wonder strike that sailed into the top corner of the net: 1-1.

Yet PSV U21 were leading 2-1 at half time. Donyell Malen burst down the wing and found Laros Duarte. The latter laid the ball back to Albert Gudmundsson and Sam Lammers kept his cool and comfortably slotted home. The home side came flying out of the traps after the break and Cody Gakpo made it three with only 90 seconds on the clock: 3-1. Donyell Malen was in great form and made it four on 64 minutes. And he pounced on a rebound to complete his hat-trick with four minutes to go, taking the opportunity to bag his twelfth goal of the season. FT: 5-1
