Luuk de Jong appointed PSV club ambassador

Luuk de Jong is heading for Sevilla but will stay with PSV as ambassador. The striker, who has won 28 caps for his country, has without hesitation complied with PSV’s request to represent the club in Spain. “I am proud to have been asked”, responded Luuk de Jong. “I think it is a great honour to be able to convey the good feelings I have about PSV.”

Lasting impression
De Jong is the fourth player that has been appointed a club ambassador, joining greats such as Carlos Salcido, Francisco Rodriguez and Romário on the list of the club’s ambassadors. “Many really great players have worn the red and white striped shirt but some of them are so special to us”, says PSV’s General Manager Toon Gerbrands. “Players like Romário, Salcido and Rodriguez have given PSV a positive image and put the club on the map. Luuk de Jong joined PSV when the club were rebuilding the team and has taken responsibility from the day he arrived and he has been leading by example for five years. He has always proved to be a winner, also at times when things got tough. We like footballers who look to get the best out of themselves and never give up. We have always appreciated Luuk de Jong for the way he has represented PSV. He has made a lasting impression in Eindhoven and that’s why we have asked him to stay with us as an ambassador.”
