Luuk de Jong was obviously very disappointed PSV are no longer leading the Eredivisie pack after being held to 3-3 draw by Vitesse in the Gelredrome on Sunday. Yet he insisted that the title race is not over. “Anything can still happen. We will keep on fighting for the Eredivisie title down to the wire”, he said defiantly.
PSV are level on points with Ajax but second on goal difference. The Eredivisie title race is hotting up with five games left to go. “We will show resilience and keep on fighting till the end. We look to maintain pressure on the league leaders”, said De Jong in his post-match interview.
PSV’s captain scored a 2-2 equaliser but noticed that his team could not push through. “Yet we had enough chances to wrap up the three points. Vitesse keeper Remco Pasveer put in a great display, pulling off a string of fine saves to keep his side in the game. Having said that, we should never concede three goals. But we will just carry on. Anything can still happen.”
