Jürgen Locadia will surely dominate the headlines after the striker capped his comeback from a lengthy spell on the sidelines with injury with a stunning opening goal. Locadia said after the game he was delighted to be back in first-team contention.
“It’s a great feeling to find the net again. I last scored a goal in the title-winning game against PEC Zwolle”, said Locadia after the game. “I was helped to work though the injury. I put all my effort into the rehab and feel grateful for all the help I’ve received.”
‘Great to see Locadia make his mark’
PSV head coach Phillip Cocu congratulated Locadia on his goal on the touchline and showed his delight at the post-match conference as well. “Jürgen has experienced some dark moments during his long recovery so I am delighted he has made his mark again after many months on the sidelines. He put in a convincing performance, after he had already impressed during training all week.”
Cocu paid tribute to all his players. “We fully deserved our win. We faced a tough away fixture because we knew Sparta can rise to the occasion. We put in a mature team display. We were fully focused and could have scored one or two more goals, but at the end of the day I am happy with the 2-0 victory”, said Cocu.
