Jong PSV settled for a 1-1 draw at home to Roda JC at De Herdgang training facilities on Monday night, just like they did in this season’s reverse encounter in Kerkrade. Leemans scored a superb opening goal for Jong PSV.
Leemans scored opening goal for Jong PSV
Jong PSV took on Roda JC at De Herdgang training facilities on Monday night with plenty of action and end-to-end stuff in the first half. The visitors had the best chance to make the breakthrough, but Jesse Bertrams, who put on a solid performance, made a number of saves to deny them. Jong PSV´s goalkeeper saved a well-placed header from Biemans and kept his composure when Van Hyfte and Scheurs were one-on-one with him. Jong PSV were dangerous on the counter attack and Boljević just failed to connect with Luković´s cross. Jong PSV took the lead on 28 minutes. Rayhi cut into the box and squared for Leemans, who, left unmarked, fired the opening goal into the roof of the net: 1-0. Rayhi had an opportunity to double the lead but he sent his effort over the bar.
Bertrams saves penalty
The second half was less action-packed than the first. Jong PSV tried their luck from long range but Bram Verbist, Roda JC´s goalkeeper, was not impressed. On the hour mark, Jong PSV had a good chance on the break, but Marquet´s final pass lacked accuracy and Heesakkers could only produce a weak shot. Roda JC were awarded a penalty in the 70th minute for a foul committed by Loof on Scheurs. Scheurs himself stepped up to take the spot kick. Bertrams saved the penalty but Van Hyfte pounced on the rebound and tapped home the equaliser from close range, as Jong PSV extended their unbeaten run to six games.
