PSV U21 striker Joël Piroe has signed a new contract with the club. The 19-year-old has put pen-to-paper on a deal on Tuesday night which will keep him at the Philips Stadion until the summer of 2022. Piroe’s former contract was due to expire this summer.
Trains with the first-team squad
Joël Piroe’s performances for PSV attracted the interest of a host of big clubs abroad, but the young striker preferred to commit his near future to PSV. The PSV U21 striker regularly trains with Mark van Bommel’s first-team squad and joined the senior squad on a training camp last summer. He was also invited to join the first-team squad on a warm-weather training camp in the winter break and scored a goal in PSV’s 2-1 friendly win over Club Brugge in Qatar.
PSV U21 captain
Joël Piroe, who captains the PSV U21 side, put in impressive performances for Dennis Haar’s team this season, scoring ten goals in the process. Having joined PSV’s Academy from N.E.C. in 2015, he has set his sights on representing PSV’s first team. “I’m delighted with the new contract and happy to extend my stay. I will continue to work hard and look to gain first-team experience”, Piroe said after putting pen to paper.
