Speaking to the press after the game, Jorrit Hendrix said that he did not want to give up and lose the game. PSV came from behind twice to snatch a 3-3 draw with ADO Den Haag. Head coach Phillip Cocu was not happy with the way his team had conceded sloppy goals.
'Just didn’t want to lose'
Although PSV clinched the title two weeks, they fought till the final whistle in Den Haag to get a good result. “We just didn’t want to lose “, said Jorrit Hendrix. “We always show fighting spirit. We go out to get three points, also when some other players get an opportunity to shine.”
PSV took the lead but then things did not go their way. “We let ourselves get outbluffed. We started brightly but were disorganised when ADO Den Haag scored an equaliser and I think it was a soft penalty. But then we fought ourselves back into the game and it was one-way traffic until the end.”
Cocu not happy with result
PSV head coach Phillip Cocu was not happy with the result. “We did well in possession, but I am not impressed at all by the way we conceded goals. Two of them were sloppy. We played into our opponents’ hands today.” Cocu also saw plenty of positives. “We fought back well and showed resilience. We came back from behind twice and our reward was a draw.”
Hirving Lozano was taken off with injury after he had opened the scoring for PSV. The Mexican was taken to hospital for assessment. “A scan will reveal the exact nature of the injury””, said Cocu. “Hirving Lozano wanted to carry on but we didn’t want to take any risks. There is a World Cup coming up.”
