Eran Zahavi scored his 33rd goal for Israel on Tuesday, equalling the goal scoring record set by Mordechai Shpigler between 1963 and 1977.
Zahavi smashed home a free kick from the edge of the penalty in the 29th minute to open the scoring against Moldavia at Beersheba’s Turner Stadium. He also provided the assist for the second goal scored by Munus Dabbu. Israel ran out 2-1 winners but are still third in qualifying Group, four points below Scotland who snatched a 1-0 win to the Faroe Islands in the 86th minute.
