Eran Zahavi: ‘A near perfect night’

Eran Zahavi scored first hat-trick in a red-and-white striped PSV shirt against Galatasaray SK. The Israeli striker was happy with his performance. “We have taken a big step toward reaching the next round.”

Zahavi looked back at a ‘near perfect night’. “It would have been a perfect night if we had kept a clean sheet. But we showed tremendous team spirit.” The prolific striker hailed his team mates for the development they have made as a team. “Last season was a special one. Many players, including myself, joined the first-team later in the season. Now there are some new signings as well but we feel the connection and the drive to perform and be successful. But we must be realistic. This was just the first competitive game of the season and we obviously have a few more coming up!”

European goals
Zahavi has scored seven goals in his last three European games, something to be proud of. “It is always nice to score a goal. But the team’s objectives are more important than my personal goal. When I am on the pitch, I will always try to give my all.” PSV will travel to Istanbul next Wednesday for the return leg against Galatasaray SK. “We will celebrate out victory tonight but start preparing for the next game tomorrow.”
