PSV U21 have recorded their second league win in a row. Dennis Haar’s team registered a 3-2 win over RKC Waalwijk last week and a goal from Laros Duarte helped them to a 1-0 win at SC Cambuur on Friday night.
An end-to-end game
Both sides made a tentative start in front of a 7,000 crowd. PSV U21 had the first chance of the match on 20 minutes in an end-to-end game. Matthias Verreth beat the offside trip and turned provider for Donyell Malen, who had his header saved by SC Cambuur goalkeeper Cummins. The home side created mainly chances from set pieces. Smeets came close to breaking the deadlock but Yanick can Osch made a save to deny him. HT: 0-0.
Duarte makes breakthrough
Laros Duarte made the breakthrough for PSV U21 on 57 minutes. The midfielder controlled the ball well before unleashing a vicious shot from twenty yards out into the SC Cambuur net: 0-1. Minutes later, Peersman thought he had levelled but one-on-one with Van Osch, the striker hit the outside of the post. The hosts threw everything forward in search of an equaliser but PSV U21 held on in the closing stages to record their second straight Jupiler League victory.
