PSV head coach Phillip Cocu faced the media at De Herdgang training facilities on Friday afternoon, ahead of Saturday’s clash away from home against Willem II in Tilburg. There is mixed news on the injury front: Siem de Jong, Davy Pröpper and Jeroen Zoet are match-fit again but Jürgen Locadia, Andrés Guardado and Jorrit Hendrix will miss Saturday’s game in Tilburg, due to injury.
‘A mixed bag of fixtures’
Phillip Cocu insisted that PSV will do their very best to draw close to leaders Feyenoord and second-placed Ajax before the mid-winter break sets in. “We face a mixed bag of fixtures and need results to stay in the title race. There are no easy games so we will have to give our all, as we have learnt the past few weeks.”
‘A tough game in Tilburg’
Willem II, currently lying seventeenth in the Eredivisie, will not be a walkover, either. “We may expect a tough game, looking at the matches we have played in Tilburg the past few seasons”, said Cocu, referring to last season’s 2-2 draw. “It’s a kind of derby and the match is very much alive. We will have to dig deep to bag all three points. Willem II will certainly go out and look for a shock result, in particular as they have not yet lived up to the high expectations they had at the start of the season”, concluded Cocu.
