“Jürgen Locadia has made a rapid recovery from the ankle injury that he sustained during the 2-0 defeat against Ajax and looks set to be called up to the match squad”, said PSV head coach Phillip Cocu during his weekly press briefing. PSV play host to Willem II on Saturday and Cocu told the media that the first priority is win the game and not focus too much on the goal difference. “We must win our games, which is a tough challenge now that every team in the league has something to play for.”
The goal difference was the main topic of discussion during Phillip Cocu’s press conference on Friday afternoon. PSV are two points behind leaders Ajax but the Amsterdam outfit have a better goal difference as well. Cocu replied that winning the game is for him the first priority. “We are not in a position to say beforehand we’re going to score a great many goals. Every team in the league has something to play for. We must win our games and then try and get maximum results.”
Guardado is back on the training pitch
Cocu has a near full-strength squad to choose from. Locadia returns from injury so Andrés Guardado is the only player who will miss the game through injury, while Jeffrey Bruma misses Saturday’s Eredivisie match with Willem II due to a suspension. But there is good news from the treatment table. “Guardado is back on the training pitch and Maxime Lestienne looks fit and sharp ahead of the Willem II clash. Maxime has a had a tough time recently but we told him to try and return to full fitness. He has done well in training this week, which is a positive sign”, said Cocu.
