PSV head coach Phillip Cocu is determined to take all three points from Feyenoord on Sunday. “This is a big game for both sides, early in the season. We must give our all against Feyenoord”, insisted Cocu at his weekly press briefing at De Herdgang training facilities on Friday afternoon.
Cocu can select from a fully-fit squad
Cocu can select from a fully-fit squad when PSV play host to Feyenoord in the first big game of the season on Sunday. Florian Jozefzoon and Jetro Willems are the only absentees; both players face a long spell on the sidelines. “The players are fit. Héctor Moreno has done well in training all week and is eligible to play. He has had a chance to get used to our style of play. We will see on Sunday if he starts for PSV. I will not give away my starting XI before Sunday.” PSV´s head coach also gave his views on the departure of Memphis and Wijnaldum. “They were goal scoring machines for us last season, scoring 36 goals. All the players must make up for that. We create plenty of chances but need more ruthlessness in front of goal. We need to improve on that.”
‘Feyenoord are better than last season’
Sunday’s opponents Feyenoord have taken maximum points from their three opening games. Cocu thinks that the Rotterdam outfit has made huge progress. “They are a good side and they have become more mature since they bolstered their squad with some good signings. We face a tough test. We need to take all three points but the title race will obviously not be decided on Sunday. Yet we are very keen to record a win”, concluded Cocu.
