Afellay receives standing ovation on comeback

When he started to warm up, he received a standing ovation from all four sides of the stadium and all the fans rose in the 81st minute when Ibrahim Afellay was introduced as a substitute. PSV’s captain made his comeback as a PSV player after nearly ten seasons.

‘I am lost for words”
“At last, at last I’ve made my comeback. I am lost for words and it gave me goosebumps”, said Afellay, after embarking on a lap of honour with his team mates after PSV’s 5-0 win over Fortuna Sittard. “It was a very emotional moment for me. The fans have always been marvellous. I know we were having a very poor run, but our loyal fans have always been behind us. I am really left speechless.”

Stoke City
Ibi played his last competitive game two years ago, with Stoke City versus Chelsea. “I have risen from the dead, so to speak, but I have proved I have prevailed after being written off. I featured in some friendly games but I am delighted to have taken part in a competitive game once again.”
