PSV have reached an agreement with Bayern Munich to sign 21-year-old Adrian Fein on loan. The agreement includes an option to buy the midfielder. Adrian is a right-footed defensive midfielder with good passing skills, who combines length with stamina and speed”, says PSV Director of Football John de Jong. “After one season with Hamburger SV, working hard to try and win promotion back to the Bundesliga, this is the next step in my career”, says the German youth international.
Fein joined the Bayern Munich youth setup in 2007 and made his debut for the reserves of Der Rekordmeister three years ago. He joined SSV Jahn Regensburg on a season-long loan in 2018 and signed for Hamburger SV in 2019, again on loan for one season, to gain experience. “I think it was the perfect opportunity for me, as I got a lot of game time the past three seasons in the Regionalliga with the Bayern Munich reserves and in 2. Bundesliga with Hamburger SV. I feel this is the right time to play at the highest level. PSV want to win trophies and participate in the UEFA Europa League, which were for me decisive factors to choose for this club. And of course I am looking forward to working with Roger Schmidt, the manager who has gained a reputation for encouraging energetic, attacking football.”
Option to buy
“Adrian completed a good season with Hamburger SV and is ready for the next step”, says De Jong. “We think he adds value to the team and that’s why an option to buy has been included in the contract.”
