44-year-old former professional football player Adil Ramzi has been appointed as the new head coach of the PSV U21 side to replace Ruud van Nistelrooij. “I’m really pleased and proud to take charge of a professional football team. I am ready for this challenge”, said Ramzi, who has earned 37 caps for Morocco.
Carefully planned career
Taking charge as PSV U21 coach, Ramzi has made the next step in his carefully planned career. Following a trial in 2015, he became coach of PSV U16. He was also assistant coach of the first-team squad and assisted Ruud van Nistelrooij at PSV U21 level last season before he was named as new PSV U21 coach. “Adil Ramzi is ready to take the next step”, said PSV director of Football John de Jong. “He has played his part in several roles with PSV, is familiar with the PSV Academy football philosophy and knows the PSV Campus De Herdgang inside out. We are pleased to reveal him as PSV U21’s new head coach.”
Help players to make it to the first team
“I’m grateful for the trust and confidence in me”, responded Ramzi, after putting pen to paper on a two-year deal. “PSV have offered me an opportunity to shape my future after my career in football. I am very grateful for their support. After having gained valuable experience the past few years, I’ve now made the choice to fully focus on this job. I am looking forward to taking the next step in my career and turning my attention to the main objective: help as many players as possible to make it to the first team.”
