The Farsø-born Danish defender began her professional career at Team Viborg and KoldingQ and later played at Fortuna Hjørring, where she won the league and cup twice, including participation in the UEFA Women's Champions League. She then made 59 appearances for AC Milan, in which she scored four goals. At the age of 20, she made her debut for the Danish national team in 2016 and has since played 27 international matches with two goals.

Sara has a contract until mid-2027.
