When Ruben van Bommel signs with PSV in the summer of 2025, several puzzle pieces fall into place. As the son of club icon Mark van Bommel, he returns to the Philips Stadium, where as a young boy he saw his father shine. Moreover, he rejoins the club where he went through part of his youth training. Nevertheless, the talented left winger remains down-to-earth: "The circle is only complete if I succeed at PSV."

Voor het grote publiek breekt Ruben door in het seizoen 2022-2023, wanneer hij in zijn debuutjaar bij MVV Maastricht indruk maakt met 15 doelpunten in 31 wedstrijden. Zijn sterke optreden in de Keuken Kampioen Divisie blijft niet onopgemerkt: meerdere clubs tonen interesse, en uiteindelijk kiest hij voor AZ. In Alkmaar ontwikkelt hij zich verder en komt hij in 2 seizoenen tot 73 officiële duels.

In the summer of 2025 Ruben will be part of the selection of the Dutch Junior Team at the European Championship. Despite his young age, he will already have gained a wealth of experience at both national and international level by then. With his return to Eindhoven, he begins a new chapter in his career - one in which he is determined to live up to his own name in the shirt of PSV.
