When Ruben van Bommel signs with PSV in the summer of 2025, several puzzle pieces fall into place. As the son of club icon Mark van Bommel, he returns to the Philips Stadium, where as a young boy he saw his father shine. Moreover, he rejoins the club where he went through part of his youth training. Nevertheless, the talented left winger remains down-to-earth: "The circle is only complete if I succeed at PSV."

For the general public Ruben breaks through in the 2022-2023 season, when he impresses in his debut year at MVV Maastricht with 15 goals in 31 games. His strong performance in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie does not go unnoticed: several clubs show interest, and eventually he chooses AZ. In Alkmaar he develops further and reaches 73 official duels in two seasons.

In the summer of 2025 Ruben will be part of the selection of the Dutch Junior Team at the European Championship. Despite his young age, he will already have gained a wealth of experience at both national and international level by then. With his return to Eindhoven, he begins a new chapter in his career - one in which he is determined to live up to his own name in the shirt of PSV.
