Czech Matěj Kovář is one of the two new goalkeepers at PSV in the summer of 2025. Together with Nick Olij, he replaces Walter Benitez and Joël Drommel, who left on a permanent and rental basis, respectively.

Matěj enjoyed part of his youth training at England's Manchester United and then gained valuable experience during loan spells at Swindon Town, Burton Albion FC and Slavia Prague. His final breakthrough followed at Bayer Leverkusen, which acquired him in 2023. In Germany, he was part of the historic team that captured the first Bundesliga title in club history in the 2023-2024 season.
