Czech Matěj Kovář is one of two new goalkeepers at PSV in the summer of 2025. Together with Nick Olij, he replaces Walter Benitez and Joël Drommel, who have left on a permanent and loan basis, respectively.

Matěj spent part of his youth training at Manchester United in England and then gained valuable experience during loan spells at Swindon Town, Burton Albion FC and Slavia Prague. His definitive breakthrough came at Bayer Leverkusen, which signed him in 2023. In Germany, he was part of the historic team that won the club's first Bundesliga title in the 2023-2024 season.

The Czech international has been loaned from Leverkusen for one year.
