PSV player Bob Groenendijk had a tumor removed last Saturday. The operation went well; no metastases were found. The 19-year-old defender is recovering from the operation at home and will need to rest for at least two weeks. In the coming period, based on additional examinations, it will be determined whether follow-up treatment is necessary.

Heart under the belt
Groenendijk has been playing for PSV since the F-youth and is now part of the Psv U21 selection. Prior to the home match against RKC Waalwijk, his teammates gave him a heart-to-heart. The unexpected suffering of their teammate made a deep impression on the young group of players of coach Pascal Jansen.

Marcel Brands' reaction
"Just like Bob and his family, we are all incredibly shocked," responded technical manager Marcel Brands. "The fact that surgical intervention was performed immediately reflects the seriousness of the situation. We all sincerely hope that the worst is now behind Bob and that he can look forward again. In the meantime, we as a
club will do everything we can to support him in this difficult time."
